Websites for instructors who built a life here

You teach for a living in Costa Rica and your whole business runs through a phone. That works until the day you want it to grow — and then the algorithm decides who sees you.

  • From $499
  • Live in 3 to 7 days
  • Built in English
  • Everything in your name

The problem is not that you need a website. It is that you are renting your audience.

Almost everybody teaching here runs on Instagram and WhatsApp, and honestly, it works. You post a class, people who follow you see it, somebody messages you, you reply with the time and the price. Nobody needs convincing that this is fine.

Here is what it does not do. It does not reach the person who landed in Liberia last week and typed "yoga classes near me" into Google. It does not answer the four questions somebody asks before booking — when, where, how much, are you any good — without you typing them out again. And it is not yours: your student list, your reach and your reputation all live inside an account somebody else controls and can change on a Tuesday.

A site does not replace any of that. It catches what the phone cannot reach.

What we actually build for this

Not a brochure. The thing a person can act on at eleven at night from a beach rental with bad wifi:

  • One page per thing you teach. Vinyasa is not restorative, a beginner surf lesson is not a coaching block, and conversational Spanish is not exam prep. People search for the specific one, so the specific one gets its own page.
  • Your schedule, where you can change it yourself without calling anyone. A stale timetable costs more bookings than no timetable at all.
  • Prices, out loud. Drop-in, package, private, online. It filters out the "how much?" messages that go nowhere and leaves the ones that are ready to book.
  • Who you are, properly. Your training, your certifications, how long you have been at it, why you ended up here. In this line of work the person is the product, and this is the part everyone under-writes.
  • Booking that fits how you work — a real booking calendar if your volume justifies it, or a WhatsApp message with the class and date already written in if it does not. We will tell you which, and it is often the second one.
  • Local search, so you appear on the map. The Google Business Profile set up properly is free and matters more than most of the site.

Two students, two paths

This is the single thing that changes results most in this niche, and almost nobody does it. You are selling to two different people and one page cannot speak to both.

The visitor is booking from abroad or from a hotel, three days out, wants one class or a short course, cares about location and whether it is beginner friendly, and will pay by card. The resident — Costa Rican or foreign — wants a monthly package, a schedule they can build a week around, and will pay by SINPE Móvil like everybody else here.

When the site separates them, the messages you get change character: fewer questions, more bookings.

About the seasons

Everybody in this business knows the year has a shape. What gets missed is the timing of the search. Someone coming in December starts looking in September or October. Someone moving here in January is reading about it in November.

A page published in December is competing from zero in December. A page published in September has had three months to settle before the season it is meant to sell. Low season is when the work should happen, which is also the only time you have.

Where this client actually lives

We work remotely across the whole country, and these are the areas where we already rank in English. Each has a page of its own:

Not on the coast? The full list is here, and Escazú and Santa Ana have their own pages too — the Central Valley has plenty of instructors teaching a foreign clientele.

What we will not tell you

We will not promise you a position on Google, because Google decides that and anybody who guarantees it is selling something they do not control. We will not promise you students either — that depends on you teaching well, which is not something we can build.

What we will do is tell you when you do not need this yet. If you are teaching two classes a week and filling them, a free Google Business Profile and a tidy Instagram will serve you better than spending $499. We have told people that before and we will tell you.

Questions we get from instructors

I already have an Instagram with followers. Do I really need a website?

They do different jobs. Instagram is where people who already found you keep up with you. A website is where people who have never heard of you find you in the first place — somebody typing "yoga classes Nosara" or "personal trainer Tamarindo" into Google is not going to land on your profile. And the account is not yours: the day the platform changes its reach or locks you out, the business goes with it. The site stays in your name.

My students are half tourists and half residents. Can one site serve both?

Yes, but they need separate paths, because they are buying different things. The tourist wants a drop-in class next Tuesday and is booking from a phone, on holiday data, three days before arriving. The resident wants a package, a schedule they can plan around, and a price per month. Same site, two clear routes — that split alone usually fixes the "I get lots of messages and few bookings" problem.

How do I take payment from people who are not in Costa Rica?

It depends on who is paying. Residents here pay by SINPE Móvil or transfer and that works fine. For someone booking from abroad before they travel, you need a card payment or a link they can pay in their own currency. We will tell you honestly whether it is worth adding: if most of your income is local, a payment gateway adds a fee and a headache for very little.

My income is completely seasonal. Does a website make sense?

It makes more sense, not less, precisely because of that. High season is decided before high season: the person booking a December retreat is searching in September. A site that is already ranking when that search happens captures a booking that a post made in December cannot. The work goes in during low season, which is when you have the time anyway.

Do you build it in English, in Spanish, or both?

Whichever matches who pays you. If your students are foreign residents and visitors, English alone is usually right and Spanish is wasted effort. If you teach both markets, bilingual is roughly a site and a half of work and we price it as such — not as a machine translation, because a translated page reads like one and Google treats it like one.

What does it cost?

From $499 for a site with your classes, schedule, prices and booking, normally live in 3 to 7 business days. Booking systems and payment links are quoted on top depending on what you need. Written proposal with scope and price before you pay anything, and the domain and accounts are registered in your name.
